SM-80 is an add-on wireless PIR motion sensor for SecurityMan Air-Alarm program. Its wireless transmitting distance is up to 450ft (in open area). It contains a 9V alkaline battery which could last up to 2 years. Motion detection range is 100° 10x10m.
Consumer Evaluations
The PIR sensor functions pretty well. It scans each 5 seconds reacts rather promptly. I ordered additional sensors to compliment the Air Alarm kit I ordered. The adjustability of the mounting makes it simple and easy to aim as soon as a mounting location is selected.
Of the 3 sensors, there is one particular that appears to have a single undesirable trait. I am unsure if it is exclusive to that sensor or if it is since it is in a high visitors place or poor luck with 9V batteries. The PIR scans every five seconds according the manual and when it detects motion, it glows red. The sensor in question has used 3 9V batteries considering the fact that it was mounted. The original battery did not final pretty long and I assumed it was given that it was a no name battery included with the unit. The second lasted 3 months and it did not glow "white" when the battery is low according to the manual. The red LED simply would was not as vivid as regular (it was a 9V that I had, but tested "really good" with the battery tester before installed- so it could have been just undesirable luck with two batteries). It is on it really is third battery in six months. That is the only issue that has come up considering the fact that the installation and so far just with 1 of the 3 PIR sensors. The Air Alarm and sensors are not even one particular year old yet, but the PIR does operate as stated.
When these perform, they are good. I at the moment have five installed, and frequently speaking, they operate adequately. Nonetheless, of the eight total that I have ordered, I have had troubles with three: one particular would not turn on at all, a single looked like it was turned on but would not detect motion, and the third 1 detects motion inconsistently.
