I bought the 2 camera method and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent through 2.4ghz. RF (the wireless element). You can mount the little DVR anywhere that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den subsequent to my recliner, but, you can move it quickly if you have to have to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is nice to have!
If you want power outage protection, you will need to have to install a ups power outlet for each and every camera (use 1 for a personal computer and hook the camera provide into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the technique and installed two cameras in an afternoon without having any stress. It did take a little preparing, but, it was certainly straightforward.
It is a lot less expensive than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the images (even following dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and running for one month and it is amazing...the picture high quality is good, sound quality great, and night vision is fine, I would decide to buy this again..A+
