I read all the evaluations before I tried this item. I am particularly concerned and picky shopper. I believed I would give this a attempt. I believe the important to this item is the flooring you are working with this on. The foot on the lock operates fantastic on title or wood. I would not advise this item on carpet.
1 essential point to remember...the farther away you have the base from the door the much less strength it has. Attempt to get it between 70 degrees and 80 degrees. I was able to knock it out of place at 50 and 60. I typically do not be concerned about security but, I am a heavy sleeper. I can fend for myself but I have to hear it very first. The device does what is suppose to. If someone wanted to break in the front door of our apartment they would have to kick it down... and we would essentially hear it.
